Thomas Dean Barcum, 87, passed away January 4, 2025 at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.
Born October 14, 1937 in East St. Louis, IL, he was the son of Harry Dean and Zora Lee (Foster) Barcum.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he had worked as a truck driver for Dodes Truck Line for 20 years before his retirement.
In December of 1958 in Breese, IL, he married Katherine L. Vaughn. She died in February 2007.
Surviving are two sons, Steven Barcum of Wood River, Richard (Laurie) Barcum of Prairietown; a daughter, Erin Skeens of Wood River; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary "Sissy" Farnsworth and Carol Fowler both of Redding, CA, and Patricia Ebmeier of Carlyle, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Smith; and a grandson, Richey Barcum.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at 11 am, Tuesday, January 14 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Frank Akers will officiate.
Graveside service and burial will be at 12 pm in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville with military honors presented by Alton VFW Post 1308.
