Terry Alesandrini Obituary

Terry L. Alesandrini of East Alton transitioned to Heaven at 8:35 PM on December 8, 2025 surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.

He was born June 17, 1953 in Wood River to the late Louis J. Alesandrini and the late Alma E. Logan.

He married the former JoAnn Hollandsworth on July 22, 1976 in Godfrey, she survives.

He grew up in Cottage Hills where he participated in track, gymnastics and football. He attended junior high and high school in Bethalto, but joined the Navy when he turned 17 and received his GED. While in the Navy, he served as an Engineman/Fireman for four years aboard the auxiliary replenishment oiler USS Milwaukee (AOR-2) and was a Vietnam Veteran. After an honorable discharge, he worked at Grossman Iron and Steel Company in St. Louis then at Olin Corporation. He retired from Olin after almost 33 years, as a ‘Posit Bond’ Rolling Mill Operator, where he ran the machine which bonded metal for the US mint. He was a member of the East Alton American Legion and the IAM/AW Union. His fondest memories were watching his children and grandchildren play sports and was happiest when he was watching the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams or Kansas City Chiefs with his son. While growing up, he enjoyed camping out, hunting, biking, playing street ball with friends, earning money mowing lawns and delivering The Telegraph. He loved helping his grandmother in her garden and picking blackberries for her delicious pies and cobblers.

Besides his wife, Terry is survived by two daughters Kim (Kurt) Ramsey of Florissant, Missouri and Carrie Alesandrini of East Alton, and one son Jonathan (Jessie) Alesandrini of Wood River. Also surviving are four granddaughters Chelsea (Dylan) Pruitt, Tori (Mason) Savage, Lacey Justice and Nora Alesandrini, three grandsons Jeffrey (Taylor) Justice, Trenton Richey and Nash Alesandrini, three great granddaughters Autumn, Gracie and Ella Pruitt and four great grandsons Lyle, Luke and Lane Justice and Lincoln Savage. He is also survived by one sister, Rose Alesandrini, and four sisters-in-law Bonnie Alesandrini, Linda (Larry) Panyik, Diane Hollandsworth and Wanda Hollandsworth along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Jeff Justice, his step father Gene Logan, three sisters Santa Cooper, Kay Clark and Gina Alesandrini, two brothers Ron Alesandrini and Dee Alesandrini, one brother-in-law Dwayne Morris, one sister-in-law Margaret Alesandrini, paternal grandparents Terssilio and Rosa (Drudi) Alessandrini, and his beloved maternal grandmother Lillie (Witt) Hazzard.

Terry will be remembered by his family and friends for his nurturing demeanor, funny personality, his love for his pets (especially his cherished dog, "Probie") and his devotion to his country.

Memorial visitation will be from 3 pm until time of service at 5 pm, Thursday, December 18 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Billy Yates will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to United Service Organization (USO), Wounded Warrior Project or The Gary Sinise Foundation.
