Sylvilla S. "Bella" Akers, 83, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026 at OSF St. Anthony Health Center in Alton.
Born August 3, 1942 in Alton, she was the daughter of Horace and Thelma (Moore) Duncan.
Bella had been a self-employed beautician for many years before retiring.
On February 11, 1961 in Winchester, IL, she married Robert "David" Akers. He died November 15, 2023.
Surviving are a son, Marty (Kathy) Akers of Alton; daughter, Lori (Tim) Morrison of Plano, TX; three grandchildren, Tanner Akers April Craig and her daughter, Alex), Kelsey (Matt) Crews, and Jack Morrison; and a sister, Becky Hoehn of Dorsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter in infancy, Carrie Jo Akers; and a sister, Jackie Orris.
Cremation rites were accorded.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 23 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Frank Akers will officiate.
Internment will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
