Sue Ellyn Hinson, 85, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at SSM DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, MO.
Born June 17, 1939 in Alton, she was the daughter of Arthur William and Effie Edith (Jacobs) Hamm. She married Elgin "Sonny" Hinson on June 24, 1960 at St.Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River.
Sue had been a secretary for the Olin Corporation for 30 years before her retirement in 1997. After her retirement, she and Sonny enjoyed spending time at their second home of over 30 years at Bennett Springs State Park in Lebanon, MO.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Kraig (Stephanie) Hinson of East Alton; two daughters, Kelli (Jeff) Fletcher, Kristi Hinson (Robert Pollard) all of East Alton; grandson, Christopher (Megan) Tite; four great grandchildren, Claire, Lane, Chloe, and Luke Tite; brother-in-law, Charles (Janice) Hinson; four sisters-in-law, Karen Hamm, Beverly Leitner, Nancy Spano, and Connie (Vince) Vassolo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Pat Hamm; and two brothers-in-law, Larry and his wife, Janice Hinson, and Howard Hinson.
Visitation will be from 9 am until time of service at 11 am, Saturday, September 28 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River. Rev. Dr David Schultz will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church where she had been a lifetime member.
