Shirley Jean (Hoots) Church

Shirley Jean Church, 73, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born June 28, 1950 in Wood River, she was the daughter of John Thomas and Lucille (Carlisle) Hoots.

On December 18, 1970 she married Michael Church. He died May 8, 2023.

Surviving are a son, Rocky Church of Wood River; daughter, Michelle Jones of Roxana; three grandchildren, Brenna Church, Madelyn Church, Benjamin Church; and a sister, Teresa (David) Hawkins of Rosewood Heights.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Sue Yarborough.

Visitation will be from 9 am until time of service at 11 am, Friday, May 10, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.  Rev. Betty Carlisle will officiate.

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
