Sharon Bernadine (Porter) Winsel

Sharon Bernadine Winsel, 76, passed away November 7, 2025 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born June 14, 1949 in Alton, she was the daughter of Emmett Lockwood and Bernadine Lillian (Drexelous) Porter.

A homemaker, she enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren and was a member of the Illini Camping Club.

On November 12, 1971 in Alton, she married Thomas H. Winsel. He survives.

Surviving also ares, Susan Hurst of Wood River, Debbie (Don) White of Godfrey; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Porter of Cottage Hills,; and two sisters, Shirley Springman and Beverly Bauser both of Godfrey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Kenneth Porter.

Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at 12 pm, Thursday, November 13 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River.  Pastor David Schultz will officiate.

Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
