Ronald "Ron" McGee Obituary

Ronald Hale McGee, lovingly known as Ron, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of March 19, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old.

Ron was born on October 16, 1944, in Granite City, IL the son of Robert and Irene (Hale) McGee.  He lived a life grounded in service, faith, and devotion to those he loved. As a young man,

Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War—an experience that reflected his sense of duty and quiet strength. Following his military service, Ron built a long and respected career with Mississippi Lime, where he worked as a Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and the pride he took in doing things the right way. Outside of work, Ron had a deep love for music, especially playing the guitar. Whether at home or among family and friends, music was one of the many ways he connected with others and brought joy to those around him. Above all, Ron’s life was anchored in his unwavering faith. He was fully committed to the Lord and faithfully served in his church, living out his beliefs through kindness, humility, and quiet strength. His faith guided how he lived, how he loved, and how he supported those around him.

Ron shared a devoted marriage of 59 years with his beloved wife, Norma, and together they built a strong and loving family. He was a proud father to his two sons, Ronnie (Jennifer) of Cottleville, MO, and Tim (Nancy) of Bunker Hill. He found immense joy in being a grandfather to eight grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest blessing, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Ron was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Rick.

Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at 11 am, Monday, March 23, 2026 at First Assembly of God in East Alton, IL.

A graveside service will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, IL.

He will be remembered for his steady presence, his servant’s heart, his love of music, and his deep and abiding faith. Ron’s legacy lives on through his family and in the countless lives he touched with his quiet strength and unwavering love.
