Ronald Herman Carter, 85, passed away March 7, 2024 at his home.
Born February 10, 1939 in Pearl, IL, he was the son of Charles Herman and Ruth (Talkington) Carter.
A U.S. Coast Guard and Air Force veteran, he had been employed as an electrical technician for Ameren/UE for over 30 years before retiring in 1999.
On July 10, 1964 in Panama City, FL he married Jean Elizabeth Hinrichs. She died July 20, 2015.
Surviving are a son, Chase (Sara) Carter of Rodgers, AR; daughter, Janet (Darren) McNear of Brighton; six grandchildren, Abigail (Jacos) Juliano, Meghan (Jesse) Arnold, Madelyn Carter, Sadie Carter, Max Hines, Finley Hines; great grandson, Luca Juliano; an expected great grandchild in September; and a sister, Kathy (Ronald) Burnett of Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Judith Carter; and sister, Joyce Sperry.
Visitation will be from 3pm until time of service at 5 pm, Friday, March 15 at Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey. Pastor Timothy Appel will officiate.
Interment will be in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials are suggested to 5 A's Animal Shelter in Alton.
