Richard A. Stearns

Richard A. Stearns, 92, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026 at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL.

Born October 5, 1933 in Centaur, MO, he was the son of Leo Gomer and Ruby (Evans) Stearns.

Richard worked as a mechanic for IL Power Company (Ameren IL) before retiring in July of 1994.

On January 1, 1955 in Wood River, he married his wife Margaret L. Pupkies. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Wayne (Jeanne) Stearns of Jacksonville; daughter, Cynthia (Alan) Lockhart of Brownsville, TX; brother, Norman (Sharon) Stearns of Glenmore, PA; sister, Nancy (Larry) Thompson of Brighton; and grandchildren, Wynette (Ryan) Findley and Melissa (Collin) Kelch; and three great grandchildren. Four step grandchildren, AJ Stevens, Jill (Dustin) Hertel, Jen (Greg) Hill, Jess (Clayton) Osborne and 13 step great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rolland D. Stearns; and sisters, Ruth (Robert) Sullivan and Marilyn Leisher.

Graveside service and burial will be on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 11 AM at Upper Alton Cemetery.
