Paul Allen Sauls, 73, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025 at Jerseyville Manor.
Born October 27, 1951 in Alton, he was the son of John P. and Ella Louise (Smith) Sauls.
Paul's larger than life personality, love of God and all of His creations, music, and people, led him in a life of service to his community and friends. He had been employed for 50 years at Marks Mortuary, serving as office manager, before his retirement in 2021, sharing his compassion and love with families through his caring, musical gifts and talents. He served as organist/pianist for many years, filling "the bench" at numerous churches in the area always with a touch of flair, for the Glory of God. He had been a long-time member of Word and Spirit Family Church, Wood River Moose Lodge #1349, and a past member of East Alton Rotary Club. Paul enjoyed his many years of bringing smiles and laughter to children while filling in for "Santa" for many organizations.
Paul met his wife-to-be, Betty Garner-Allen, while working together at VIP Manor in Wood River. They were married on November 24, 1989 at Agape Christian Fellowship Church in Godfrey. Together, they raised a family and share in their lives. She died September 12, 2016.
Surviving are a brother, Delbert (Carol) Sauls of Houston, TX; step-grandchildren; several dear nieces, nephews and loving cousins; as well and numerous, wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; step-son, Mark Allen; step-daughter, Kris Lavite; two brothers, Larry Sauls, David Wilkins and his wife, Elsie; and sister, Wanda Cox.
