Margaret "Ovetia" Braundmeier, 95, passed away peacefully in her home on January 29, 2024 with her family by her side.
She was born on April 16, 1928 in Equality, IL, the daughter of the late Clyde and Marie (Rodgers) Raymer.
Ovetia married LeRoy Braundmeier on April 16, 1947 (on her birthday) in Alton, IL. LeRoy was the love of her life and they experienced 43 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on May 18, 1989. Roy Braundmeier, their oldest son, also preceded in death on January 1, 2017.
Ovetia and LeRoy enjoyed bowling in separate leagues as well as a Saturday night couples league. Ovetia kept up the bowling tradition joining several women's leagues after LeRoy's passed. Her other passions included painting every wall in their house (several times over) and gardening. She also was an accomplished seamstress and had a home business, "Ovetia's Alterations" for several years.
Ovetia is survived by two daughters and a son, Donna (Gary) Triplett of Godfrey, Vicky (Gary) Eberlin of Wood River, Kevin Braundmeier of Wood River; daughter-in-law, Lynda Braundmeier of Edwardsville. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and spouses, Jeremy (Brittany) Yates, Justin Stanley, Courtney (Jeremy) Yates, Corisa Wood, Jordan Braundmeier, Jennifer (Jason) Kuhn, Sonja Werner, Michael Braundmeier, Jason (Kaleigh) Short; along with 19 great grandchildren.
Ovetia had a very full and rewarding 95 years, blessed by a wonderful husband, her four children, and many lady friends, including her best friend, Alex Hoehn. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Thursday, February 1 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Visitation will continue from 9:30 am until time of service at 10:30 am on Friday. Mark Thomas will officiate.
