Nadia S. Bakan, 90, passed away Thursday May 16, 2024 at Alton Memorial hospital.
She was born April 4,1934 in Michigan to parents Dimitry Shirak and Ilona "Helen" Farkas.
Surviving are a daughter, Paula (Clem) Strack; three grandchildren, Sarah (Jeremy) Briggs, Jes (Jeff) Gustafson, Sam (Andrew) Talkington, seven great grandchildren, Charlotte Briggs, Harper Briggs, Kalen Gustafson, Renner Gustafson, Elijah Gustafson, Huxton Talkington, Harrison Talkington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Bakan, Jr; brothers, William Shirak, Mitchell Shirak; and a sister Nona Fyrciak.
Private service will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto on Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to Riverbend Humane Society in Jerseyville and St Cyril and Methody Orthodox Church in Granite City.
