Marian Murphy Twigg Obituary

Marian Kay Murphy Twigg, 85, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born January 5, 1938 in Roxana, she was the daughter of Harry D. and Elizabeth C. (Allen) Carter.

She had worked 12 years as a medical transcriber before retiring. Marian was a longtime member of Lovejoy Presbyterian Church.

She married Gerald Anthony Murphy and then married James Franklin Twigg. Both preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Gavin Murphy of Roxana, Shawn Murphy in California; two daughters, Kacey Schmidt of Jerseyville, Tammy Holland in California; 18 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a daughter, Beth Ellen Moss; brother, Neal Carter; and an infant sister, Janice Carter.

Private family service will be held.
