Larry Wiegand Obituary

Larry Allen Wiegand, 69, passed away April 5, 2024 at Christian Hospital Northeast with his beloved wife by his side.

Born November 17, 1954 in Wood River, he was the son of the late Oscar Arnold and Betty Lou (Evans) Wiegand.

Larry graduated East Alton-Wood River High School in 1972, where he enjoyed playing in the band and wrestling.

Larry had served 15 years as the Assistant Vice-President at 1st Granite City National Bank in charge of operations. He then went on to work in the St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church office. at Home Depot and Office Max. He served as a Scout Master for Troop 13 at St. Elizabeth's Church and for the Boy Scouts of America as a Cub Scout leader in the 1980s and 90s. He was a huge Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues fans. He enjoyed music of all kinds, going to the theatre, and watching old movies. First and foremost, Larry loved his family.

On October 16, 1976 at St. Joseph Church in Granite City, he married Donna Kromraj.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Larry A., Jr. (Kathleen) Wiegand of Bethalto; daughter, Gretchen Marie (Lance) Critchley of O'Fallon, IL; foiur beloved grandchildren, Mary and Patrick Wiegand, Eleanor and Augustus Critchley; three brothers, Steven (Cathy) Wiegand and Dustin (Kim) Wiegand all of Wood River, David Wiegand of O'Fallon, MO; sister, Donita (David) Crockett of Alton; father-in-law, Matthew Kromraj; sister-in-law, Mary (Ken) Marti; brother-in-law, Steve Kromraj; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 am until time of Mass Christian Burial at 12 pm, Wednesday, April 10 at Holy Angels Parish Church in Wood River. Father Donald Wolford will officiate.

Interment will follow cremation rites in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.

Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Hospital for Children or Masses.
