Julia Patricia (McWhinne) Byrd

Julia Patricia Byrd, 82, passed away June 20, 2025 at Alton Memorial Hospital. 

Born August 24, 1942 in Virden, she was the daughter of Owen McWhinne, Sr. and Hazel (Henry) Suber. 

She had worked for over 15 years as an independent health care provider. 

On May 27, 1960 in East Alton, she married Ray Byrd, Sr. He survives. 

Surviving also are a son, Ray, Jr. (Jennifer) Byrd of Elsah IL; daughters, Patricia Poole of Alton, IL, Sandra (John, Jr.) Stormer of Godfrey, IL; seven grandchildren, Daniel Byrd, Lamonte (Brittany) Poole, Dee (Nicole) Poole, Courtney Byrd, John Stormer, III, Erin (Sean) Prather, Nathan (Mikinna) Stormer; 19 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marilyn Maul of Wood River, IL. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Aaron Lee Byrd; brother, Owen McWhinnie, Jr.; and sister, Mary Brewer. 

Visitation will be from 11 am until 1 pm, Wednesday, June 25 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. 

Private burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
