Joyce Irene (Uphold) Herrin

Joyce Irene Herrin, 72, formerly of East Alton, passed away May 8, 2025 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

Born March 6, 1953 in Alton, she was the daughter of Cecil F. and Bettie Jane (Hamilton) Uphold.

Joyce was a 1956 Easter Seal poster child, later attending a camp at Monticello College and becoming an Easter Seals  volunteer. She was a "Jr. Girl" for the Wood River V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and served as the church musician at Bible Baptist Church in Granite City.

Surviving are two sons, Larry, Jr. (Renee) Herrin Joshua (Sarah) Herrin all of Granite City; daughter, Betti Mae Herrin (Joe) of Wood River; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and brother, Cecil F. (Linda) Uphold of Plainview.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin "Gene" Uphold; and sister, Georgia A. Keene.

A Celebration of Life will be from 9am until time of service at 11 am, Saturday, May 24 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
