Joseph Wayne Sands

Joseph Wayne Sands, 63, died Sunday, October 5, 2025 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Collinsville.

Born January 30, 1962 in Wood River, he was the son of Jerry and Jo Ann (Yarnell) Sands.

He had been employed as a laborer for Local 110 in St. Louis.

Surviving are three daughters, Samantha (John) Bender of Colgate, WI, Kathleen Sands of Collinsville, Kristian (Matt) Batson of Staunton; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, Mary, Elizabeth, and Abigail Bender, Archer Heyen, Jasper and Norah Batson; two brothers, Mike (Janet) Sands of Chicago, Bruce Sands of Gillespie; and sister, Nancy (Mike) Carlson of Newport News, VA.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 9 am until time of Service at 11 am, Friday, October 24 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River.
