John Alvin Hoormann

John Alvin Hoormann, 84, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 at SSM St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born June 8, 1940 in Alton, the son of Charles Herman and Inez (Ward) Hoormann.

He married Charlotte Lee Adams on June 17, 1961 in Bethalto. She preceded in death on  August 31, 2018.

John had been employed at Laclede Steel before retiring.

Together the couple had three children, two daughters, Michele (Kevin) Weidner of Bunker Hill, Gina Tomaseski of Dallas, TX; a son, Charles (Terri) Hoormann of Rosewood Heights; his grandchildren, John (Taylor) Weidner, Zachary (Alison) Weidner, Jacob Weidner, Tyler (Summer) Tomaseski, Taina (Jerrod) Stead, Cassandra (Trevor) Shaw, Makia (Chris) Hoormann-Crow; six great grandchildren, Jaeda, Mason, Ella, Savannah, Tarkus and Ryker; siblings, Delores Murphy, Lester (Gloria) Hoormann, Sylvia Hoormann, Donna (Kenny) Wood; brothers-in-law, Allen (Shirley) Adams and Robert (Twila) Adams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers-in-law, Les Murphy and William Adams; and son-in-law, Tad Tomaseski.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Saturday, August 17 from 2-5 pm at the Wood River Moose Lodge, 730 Wesley Dr, Wood River, IL.

To honor his wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
