Jennifer Scholtz Obituary

Jennifer Scholtz (Hardwick), 60, of Alton, IL, departed this world on August 29, 2024. In her journey through life, she embraced the roles of mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and friend.

Jennifer shone with a radiant personality and a stunning beauty, matched by a resilient spirit. She dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a registered nurse, working in various settings. Her passion for helping extended beyond her professional life, as she was also a devoted volunteer at her church and several non-profit organizations. Her compassion and dedication had a profound impact on all those she served.

She had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and was passionate about running and cycling. Throughout the years, she participated in numerous marathons, relishing both the challenge and the sense of community. One of her favorite activities was traveling with her best friend, husband, and biggest supporter, Ted Scholtz, to various national and state parks to hike and explore their natural beauty.

She loved to dance and had a deep passion for cooking, which she enjoyed sharing with her friends and family, particularly her son, Jaden. Whether they were cooking together or exchanging recipes, it was something they cherished.

Jennifer faced many obstacles and challenges in her life, but she always held onto her faith. She inspired many people with her courage and perseverance. She had a great sense of humor and a warm smile that could light up a room. She was a woman of grace who touched many lives with her kindness and generosity.

Jennifer is survived by her two sons, Daniel Perez and Jaden Perez, her mother, Leah “Pat” Hardwick, her siblings, David Hardwick, Joanne Prather (Paul), Patricia Antwine, Robert Hardwick (Mary), Christine Hardwick, and her life partner, Ted Scholtz. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Hardwick and her sister, Denise Hardwick.

Though we grieve for her loss, we celebrate her life. We trust she has found peace and rest. A memorial service is scheduled at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, IL. The visitation will begin at 4:00 PM, followed by the service at 4:30 PM, Friday, September 27.
