James Lester Daniels, Jr.

James Lester Daniels, Jr., 73, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehab in Jerseyville.

Born August 19, 1952 in Calexico, CA, he was the son of James L., Sr. and Dorothy (Mundy) Daniels.

He had a career in telecommunications at Convergys in Cincinnati, OH.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Gilkerson ; sons, Jason Daniels of Alton and Jesse Daniels of Wood River; sisters, Kathryn (Marvin) Easley of Greenfield, Karen (Leland) Walter of Jacksonville, Loriann Brewer of Jerseyville, Sheila (James) Cunningham of Pueblo West, CO; and grandchildren, Natalia Stewart, Hadassah Daniels, David Alexander Daniels, Gabriel James Daniels, and Emma Marie Daniels.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harvey Daniels and Ron Crews; and one sister, Brenda Crews.

A memorial service will be held at 5 pm, Sunday, April 19 at East Alton Church of Christ. David Graham will officiate.

Cremation rites will follow.

He will be buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
