Helen Louise Russo, 83, went to be with the Lord, March 3, 2025 at Jerseyville Manor.
Born February 7, 1942 in Alton, she was the daughter of Donald and Ruby (Trail) Johnston.
Helen had worked in the cafeteria for the Wood River-Hartford School District before her retirement.
On July 6, 1963 in Rosewood Heights, she married James Michael Russo. He passed away August 20, 1995.
A very loving mother whom will be missed dearly by her daughters, Patti Holland (Pete Cardenas) of Wylie, TX, Penny Russo of Plainview, Paula (James, Jr.) Bailey of East Alton; five grandchildren, Steven Russo, Rachel Holland, Megan Bailey, Kaitlyn Russo, and Lindsey Bailey; three great grandchildren, Sophia, Trenton and Alloura Russo; and two brothers, Gary Johnston of Carlinville, Randy Johnston of Plainview.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Sharon Johnston.
Visitation will be from 1-3 pm, Sunday, March 9 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where funeral services will be held at 11 am, Monday. Frank Akers will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the Alton 5 A's Animal Shelter.
