Harry L. Large, Sr., 90, passed away April 19, 2026 at his residence.
Born June 24, 1935 in Wood River, he was the son of Elmer H. and Mary F. (Pate) Large.
Harry had been a Slitter Machine Operator for Olin Brass 44 years before retiring in 1997. He enjoyed camping and fishing and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in East Alton where he served as a Deacon, and Olin Westerner Club.
On June 11, 1955 in Cottage Hills, he married Thelma L. Murray. She died February 28, 2010. Surviving are a son, Harry L., Jr. (Brenda) Large of South Roxana; three daughters, Karen (Bill) Kaylor, Kathy Crisler, and Sara (Shawn) Tosh all of Wood River; 11 grandchildren, Will Michael, Tim (Desiree’) Michael, Eric (Whitney) Michael, Robert (Haley) Large, Ashton (Michael) Clark, Alyssa (Nick) Clark, Philip (Rosa) Kaylor, Angela (Mike) Zangori, Tiffany Runde, Amy (Jason) Diaz, and Renny Large; several great and great-great grandchildren; and sister, Ila Markovich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Elmer Large; two sisters, Mary L. Barber and Flora Modrovsky; son-in-law, Charlie Crisler; and great granddaughter, Haidyn Large.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Wednesday, April 22 at the First Assembly of God Church in East Alton.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 10 am, Thursday. Pastors Eric Hoffman and James Hooker will officiate.
Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials are suggested to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1st Assembly of God Church in East Alton, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
