Georgia Rae Slayton Phelps, 88, passed away May 8, 2026 at her residence.
Born August 2, 1937 in Alton, she was the daughter of William and Jennie (Dyer) Fleming.
Georgia had been employed as a dispatcher for C.R.S.T. Trucking in South Roxana for many years. She had been a member of Roxana Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church and Faith Christian Church; she served several years on the Wanda Cemetery Board, and enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren.
She married John Slayton in 1986 in Paoli, IN. He died March 14, 1998. She then married Arthur Phelps who preceded her in death on October 15, 2024.
Surviving are a daughter, Robin Webb of Wood River; six grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) Webb, Kathryn (Patrick) Lawson, Jessica Hettick, Jared Hettick, Jennie (Dan) Elliott, Cole Hettick, and Shelly; great grandchildren, Bryce, Halle, Logan, Trevor, Adriana, Noble, Paisley, Isabella, P.J., Atticus, and Paisley; and a brother, King (Pat) Fleming of Godfrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both previous husbands; two sons, Cameron and Conley Hettick; daughter, Tonda Hettick; and two grandsons, Tyler Hettick and Jacob Foltz.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at 12 pm, Tuesday, May 12 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
