Gary Edward Martin

The family of Gary Edward Martin is deeply saddened to announce his passing.

Gary of Godfrey, Il, passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2026 at the age of 61.

He was born on May 27th, 1964 to James Martin and Benita Martin in Alton, Il. After graduating from Edwardsville High School, he was a pipe liner for Buckeye Pipeline.

He and his love Dana Martin shared 31 wonderful years together. Gary Martin enjoyed hunting, grilling, hanging out with his friends, collecting guns, restoring cars, maintaining his farm and was known for his charismatic personality, hard work ethic, amazing sense of humor, and his ability to always lighten the mood. Gary was an amazing father and was very proud of his children.

He is survived by his spouse Dana Martin, sons Benjamin Martin and Lucas Martin, daughter Logan Graham, brother Jim Martin (Lila Martin) sister Beth Mattingly, mother Benita Martin, niece Jennifer Kissinger, nephew Justin Martin, niece Angela Mattingly and many other loved ones.

Visitation will be held at Marks Mortuary on Monday February 23rd, 2026 from 3pm to 6pm, followed by a memorial service.

The family invites friends to share memories and celebrate a life well-lived.

The family thanks Marks Mortuary for their support and care during this difficult time and St. Louis University hospital for allowing him so much bonus time.
