Francis M. (Carter) Sherwood

Francis M. Sherwood, 93, passed away October 8, 2025 at Bria of Godfrey.

Born April 10, 1932 in Roodhouse, she was the daughter of Claude and Lena (Johnisee) Carter.

She had been employed as  a cook for "Jacks" Grabner Restaurant and Tavern in Upper Alton and ARGOSY Casino in Alton before retiring.

She married Alfred Sherwood who preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son, Jim (Shelia) Sherwood of East Alton; daughter, Stella (Ron) Denother of Godfrey; three grandchildren, Ryan Denother, Steve Sherwood, Teri Fisk; and five great grandchildren, Cami, Cylsr, David, Travis, and Dallas Sherwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Sherwood; a brother and three sisters.

No services have been scheduled at this time.

Cremation rites were accorded.

Private interment will be in Upper Alton Cemetery.
