Donald R. Garland, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend, who was born May 1, 1939, made his journey to heaven on November 23, 2025, where he joined his daughter, Jami, and other beloved family members.
He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; as well as two sons, Don (Suzanne) Garland and Brian (Gwendolyn) Garland; a daughter, Tonya (Michael) Russell; his brothers,
Michael Garland, Norman Garland, and James Dike; sisters, Joyce McIntire and Sandra Peuterbaugh; twelve grandchildren, Patsy Hertzig, Colten Talley, Austin (Anna) Talley, Cassie (Coty) Hughes, Levi (Melissa) Pruett, Ben Hoppke, Andrew Russell, Brandon Russell, Caleb Russell, Alyssa (Josiah) Garland Smith, Jacob ( Maggie) Garland, Nathan Garland; 3 great grandchildren, Kaley, Mark Ryan, and Matthew; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents, Roy and Lois, and his brother, Arthur, proceeded him in death.
Don loved his country, served in the United States Navy and was a veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Boeing after 50 years of service, where he worked on fighter jets in St Louis, California, Hawaii and Switzerland. He loved it.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until time of service at 12 pm, Friday, November 28 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Memorials may be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
