Dolores Kessler 95, passed away at 2:28pm on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Alton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 3, 1930 in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late John Everett and Vira Edna Tweedy.
She married Charles Joseph "Joe" Kessler and he preceded her in death. Survivors include daughter Rebecca Kessler Russow and son in law David Russow, daughter Deborah Kessler Roberts and son in law Paul Roberts, five grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
She was a lifelong member at First Assembly of God in Wood River. She was involved in many ministries there including the Women’s ministries, Sunday school teacher of high schoolers and Children’s church. She spoke at many banquets and chalk art drawings in many schools and activities for children. She worked as a secretary at Rose Lawn Memory Garden. She taught art classes and was talented in her oil paintings, doing portraits for many and traveled to Italy to paint.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10:00am until time of funeral services at 12:00pm on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Wood River Assembly of God. Pastor John Bolling will officiate.
A private family only burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to Wood River Assembly of God Church Missions and will be accepted at the funeral home.
