Denise Radcliff Obituary

Denise Rae Radcliff, 77, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born in Jacksonville and raised in Roodhouse, Illinois, Denise spent her childhood riding horses on the family farm and adopting any and all animals that crossed her path—billy goats, rabbits, cats, dogs, and more. From an early age, she radiated warmth and kindness, qualities that defined her throughout her life. Denise never met a stranger, and her ability to make others feel welcome was one of her greatest gifts. Guided by a deep and abiding faith, Denise found joy in reading and teaching the Bible, sharing its wisdom and the love of Jesus with family, friends, and all who crossed her path. Her beauty, both inside and out, was reflected in the love she gave so freely. She also delighted in life’s simple pleasures: the warmth of the sunshine, a favorite dessert, chocolate, long walks outdoors, and the companionship of her husband and beloved Boston Terriers. Most of all, Denise found happiness in the laughter and company of her family. Her spirit, faith, and warmth leave a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

She is survived by her faithful and loving husband of 37 years, John Radcliff, who cared for her until the end; her daughters, Jayme Hentrich Yates and Carrie Massey Cahill; her grandchildren, Abbey Rae Hentrich Gillam (Griffin), Logan Cahill (Sierra), Easton Cahill, Saddler Yates, Lauren Massey, Grace Massey, and Claire Massey; and her sisters, Debra (McConathy) Flynn and Sally (McConathy) Lyons, along with several nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Christopher Massey and Jeffrey Brockhouse, along with her parents, Ralph and Betty McConathy.

Denise’s life was defined by faith, love, and family. Her radiant spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering devotion to others leave a legacy that will continue to inspire and comfort all who were blessed to know her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, October 25 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
