David William Aper

David William Aper, 82, passed away May 4, 2025 at his residence. 

Born April 11, 1943 in Lincoln, IL, he was the son of Simon J. and Elinor B. (Groth) Aper. 

He had worked as a forklift operator for Lehn and Fink Manufacturing in Lincoln, IL. David enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandkids. He was very handy at "fixing things" and enjoyed "antiquing". 

On March 26, 1971 in Lincoln, he married Mary Jane Short. She survives. 

Surviving also are a daughter, Christa Hopp (James Schmidt) of Edwardsville; two grandchildren, Jacob William Hopp and Grace Marie Hopp; a brother, Simon (Judy) Aper of Broadwell, IL; and two sisters, Sharon Begolka of Lincoln, and Rita Wahl of Pekin. 

Visitation will be from 9 am until time of service at 11 am, Thursday, May 8 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River. Pastor David Schultz will officiate. 

Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. 

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River where he had been a member.
