Darlene R. Miller, 87, went to be with the Lord, January 22, 2025 at Stillwater Senior Living Center in Edwardsville.
Born May 25, 1937 in Wood River, she was the daughter of Frank and Ambrosia Rachel (Tilley) Rye.
She had worked as an inspector and machine operator for the Olin Corporation for 38 years before retiring in 1999.
Darlene was a long-time member of the First Assembly of God Church in East Alton.
On February 18, 1957 in Shawneetown, IL, she married Jay L. Miller, Sr. He died September 8, 2021.
Surviving are two sons, Jay, Jr. (Cindy) Miller of Wood River, Jeff (Stacie) Miller of Godfrey; two daughters, Darla (Paul) Abert of Edwardsville, Denise Little of East Alton; seven grandchildren, Lindsay (Brett) Wessel, Lauren (Cohl) Lane, Morgan (Nick) Yates, Jason Miller, Katie Miller, Nathan (Paige) Abert, Mallory Abert; six great grandchildren, Jocelyn Tiller, Tinley Wessel, Liam Lane, Reagan Abert, Brooks Abert, Harper Yates; sister, Nancy (Bill) Tierney of Wood River; sister-in-law, Elaine Rye of Wood River; and daughter-in-law, Diane Miller of Wood River.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Jack Rye, Frank "Butch" Rye; sister, Virginia Mitchell; and son-in-law, Mark Little.
Her family wishes to extend a special "thank you" to all the care givers who have loved and cared for her.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at 12 pm, Monday, January 27 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Pastor Timothy Keller will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
