Darlene Frieda (Eggemeyer) Claussen

Darlene Frieda Claussen, 90, formerly of Wood River, passed away February 13, 2025 at her home in Chester.

Born December 4, 1934 in Walsh, IL, she was the youngest daughter of Eddie and Minnie (Hapke) Eggemeyer.

She had worked in the cafeteria for Wood River-Hartford School District 15 before her retirement. She was a life-member of the Chester VFW Post #3553 Auxiliary and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River.

On August 28, 1954 in Chester, she married Andrew "Bud" Claussen. He died July 19, 2015.

Darlene is survived. by a multitude of special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Tina Marie Claussen; #1 Angel, Brenda; five brothers, Fritz, Louis, Wilbert, Lester and Otis Eggemeyer; and four sisters, Olinda, Ruby Young, Frieda Slack, and Vera.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites were accorded.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, March 15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River.  Pastor David Schultz will officiate.

Interment will be in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
