Cindy Dee Brooks, 55, went peacefully to her eternal heavenly home on November 6, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Born October 15, 1969 in Wood River, she was the daughter of Larry Secor of Gillespie and the late Bennie (Sowell) Secor.
She married Charles "Chuck" Brooks on June 6, 1992 in Alton, whom she met when she was 18 years old.
Cindy was always thinking of and creating something she could sell. Through the years, she has made yard signs, "cocoa bombs", tumblers, T-shirts, at one time sold Paparazzi jewelry and so much more. She enjoyed spending time with her grand-babies; playing BINGO, her favorite; and cheering for the St. Louis Blues and Kansas City Chiefs. She loved her country and was a huge 'Elvis' fan.
In addition to her father and husband, surviving are two sons, Chas and Chance Brooks both of Orrick, MO; daughter, Chandra Brooks (Christopher Calvin) of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Chris and Charlotte Calvin; an expected grandson, Chatham Calvin; three sisters, Lori Pierson of Bradenton, FL, Sheri (Jeff) Copeland of Moro, Linda Snyder of Wood River; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends; and her beloved pets, 'Chico' and Jack'.
Cindy will be dearly missed, always loved and cherished, and held forever in our hearts. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, amazing "Maw Maw", and dear friend. Cindy showed how to be strong and courageous through all of life's trials.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Wednesday, November 13 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where services will be conducted at 11 am, Thursday. Pastor Daryl Dolbee and Rev. Pam Berry will officiate.
Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana, IL.
Memorials are suggested in honor of Cindy to be made to help cover her medical expenses during her brave fight against lung cancer.
