Carolyn Edith Carnell, 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 22, 2026.
Born June 5, 1950 in Wood River, IL, she was the daughter of Henry Thomas and Leota Mabel (Staton) Toombs.
Beginning in 1978, Carolyn lived her entire life in Hartford, IL on Olive Street where she raised her two children. She LOVED her Hartford. Her children played sports and she would always be there to cheer them on. Carolyn had a great passion for children and touched many children's lives. The neighborhood kids were always welcome to come to her home to play. None were ever turned away. Pool parties, water ballon fights, and fireworks were common during the summer months.
Carolyn was a daughter, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Tricia (Jason) Olene Sipe of Sedalia, MO; son, Thomas (Lori) Wayne Carnell of Poplar Bluff, MO; brother, Mike “Hot Tuna” Toombs of Wood River, IL; grandchildren, Bethany (Thomas) Gain, Kristen Carnell, Madison Carnell, Thomas “ TJ “ Carnell, Jr., Kyla Evans, and Alysa “ Aly Boo “ Evans; her great grandchildren, Addilynn Satterfield, Brilynn Hudson, Charlotte Gain, Karissa Stephens and Benjamin Stephens; and her grand dogs, “Bruno”, “Belle”, “Bruce” and “Cagney”.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ronald Glen Carnell to whom she was happily married to for many, many years. Carolyn lived a full life and enjoyed having family around.
She will be missed by all who knew her. She has been reunited with her husband and parents at the throne of Christ.
Visitation will be from 9am until time of service at 10:30 am, Saturday, April 25 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana following the service.
