Betty J. Moxey, 88, passed away February 16, 2025 at The Villas of Holly Brook.
Born June 22, 1936 in Hartford, Il., she was the daughter of John "Clay" and Beatrice (Brown) Copeland.
Betty had been employed as a secretary for Thomas Oil Company for 28 years before her retirement in 1999. She served as church organist for several churches in the area and was a longtime pianist for the Wood River Rotary Club.
On February 11, 1966, in Alton Il, she married Joseph "Joe" Moxey. He survives.
Surviving also are three daughters; Lisa (Terry) Swan of Edwardsville, Deborah Moxey of Granite City, Lori (Tom) Wuellner of Bethalto; a son, Michael (Kim) Moxey of Wood River; grandchildren; Julia Swan Danner, Isaac Sever, Whitney Wood, Jacob Sever, Rebecca Fulcher, Lynnette Sever, Thomas (T.J.)Wuellner, Malory Wuellner, Megan Wuellner, Jared Moxey and Morgan Moxey; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Marsha (Copeland) Johnson of Pontoon Beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; John "Bud" Copeland and his wife Shirley and Joseph (Joe) Copeland and his wife Marsha; Sisters, Ruby Darlene "Dar" Camp and her husband Rev. Bob Camp, Patricia (Pat) Floyd, and by a brother in law; Rev. Ronald Johnson.
Visitation will be Monday, February 24, from 10:00am until time of service at 12:00pm at Abundant Life Christian Center in Alton.
Betty was a kind and sweet lady who loved and was dearly loved by her family and friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
