Betty Ann Dukes, 81, passed away peacefully, February 29, 2024 at Alton Memorial Rehab and Therapy in Alton.
Born September 15, 1942 in Alton, she was the daughter of Elmer James Moore and Geraldine M. (Bridgewater) Thornburgh Dukes.
Betty began her working career at Owens-IL Glass before earning a nursing certificate and working at VIP Manor in Wood River for 27 years before retiring.
A past member of the Hartford Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, she enjoyed crocheting and "Classic Monster Movies".
Surviving are three sons, Rick (Cheryl) Schubert of Goshen, CT, Rodney Schubert of Hartford, Randy (Stacey) Dukes of Wentzville, MO; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Schubert, Rachel Gori, Libby Schubert, David (Erin) Schubert, Samantha "Sam" Schubert, Theodore "Teddy Bobby" Dukes, Matilda "Elsie-Rose" Dukes; two great grandchildren, Aberdeen "Birdie" Carlson, Dante' Gori; three brothers, Joseph (Phyllis) Thornburgh of Gulf Port, MS, Jerry Thornburgh, Jon (Nancy) Thornburgh of Hartford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Joseph "Ben" Thornburgh; brother Jeff Thornburgh; and sister-in-law, Beth Thornburgh.
Visitation will be from 10am until time of service at 11am, Tuesday, March 5 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials are suggested to the Hartford Fire Department Auxiliary.
