Berenice (Ash) Martin

Berenice Martin, 99, passed away March 29, 2025 at Staunton Nursing and Rehab. 

Born May 5, 1925 in Sorento, she was the daughter of Alva "John" and Rose (May) Ash. 

A graduate of East Alton-Wood River High School, she married Robert Martin, Jr. on September 24, 1943 in St. Charles, MO. He died September 16, 1998. 

Surviving are two sons, Mark (Connie) Martin and Scott (Kim) Martin all of East Alton; five grandchildren, Lindsey Anderson of East Alton, Mark "Justin" Martin of Godfrey, Kyle "Ian" Martin of East Alton, Stephanie Moss of St. Charles, MO, and Sarah Aubuchon of Crestwood, MO; and 11 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lois Peach and Gwen Oliver. 

Visitation will be from 10:30 am until time of service at 11:30 am, Tuesday, April 1 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate.

Private burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
